Hi everyone!
After a few weeks of silence, we're thrilled to finally share something close to our hearts — the latest project from Brigant Lab, and it needs your support.
We’re Launching: “Paving the Way of Hope”
Today, we’re proud to launch a groundbreaking research project dedicated to improving the diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) — a group of rare and often misunderstood connective tissue disorders that affect millions around the world.
For too many, the journey to a diagnosis takes 10+ years, filled with doubt, misdiagnoses, and invisible suffering. We believe people living with EDS deserve better. That’s why our team at the Brigant Lab (NTNU, Norway) is working to discover biomarkers that can make diagnosis faster, fairer, and more accurate.
This project is fueled by real stories, real struggles — and the hope that science can bring change.
We just launched our crowdfunding campaign and need YOUR help to make this possible. Whether you can donate, share, or simply spread awareness, you’re already part of this journey.
Let’s pave the way of hope together — for better diagnosis, better care, and better futures.
Thank you for being part of the journey. Your support means the world to us

Back in Norway
After an incredible 1-year mobility research in Ottawa, I’m ready to wrap up the lipds metabolism research from my time there and startfull-time into my personal research focus: joint biology and tackling osteoarthritis.
Our lab will also continue its work on genetic diseases, with a special emphasis on hypermobility syndromes and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. We’re striving to improve diagnosis and develop better therapies for these challenging conditions.
Excited for what’s ahead!

New amazing experience: Skype a scientist !
Sharing my journey as a researcher with kids is an incredible experience, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunity. Thank you Kristen for reaching me ! During a recent session with 11-12-year-old students from a school in Arizona, I had the pleasure of delving into a wide range of topics based on my own experiences.
The kids were genuinely engaged and curious, especially when we discussed fascinating genetic facts. They were particularly interested in how genetic mutations could potentially lead to 'superpowers.' We also explored the intriguing question of why squirrels are black in Canada and gray further south.
It's moments like these that remind me of the importance of science education and outreach. If you're interested in volunteering or subscribing to similar initiatives, you can do so at Skype a Scientist.
Thank you for joining me on this journey of scientific exploration and discovery!

Celebrating Success: Carolina's Master Thesis Defense
We are thrilled to share the joyous occasion of Carolina's master thesis defense! It's a momentous milestone in her academic journey, and we couldn't be more proud of her accomplishments.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the internal evaluator, Harald, and the external evaluator, Laurent Metzinger, for generously dedicating their time and expertise to evaluate Carolina's work. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

COST Action kick-off meeting
Hello Barcelona !
I just wanted to kick things off by saying how awesome it is to see all of you here today for our COST Action kick-off meeting. It's been a blast, and I can't thank you enough for being a part of this.
Now, I know we didn't go with the usual PowerPoint presentation today ! So, I decided to mix things up a bit. Instead of slides, I brought along something that's pretty close to my heart – my baby's ball. You know, the one he graciously lent me for this occasion.
This little guy might look like a simple ball, but trust me, it's got a lot in common with my research. It's all about those lipids and nanoparticles! Just like this ball, those tiny particles are full of surprises and potential.
Thanks for rolling with it, and I'm excited to dive into some great discussions with all of you!

Joining the COST Action on Osteoarthritis
I am very pleased to be a part of the COST Action (CA21110), and I eagerly anticipate collaborating with fellow members to expand the horizons of osteoarthritis research.
Through COST Action (CA21110), we embark on the journey of creating this European Society. Our mission is to foster collaboration, encourage interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, drive technological advancements, and facilitate the translation of findings into clinical applications. Ultimately, our goal is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by osteoarthritis in Europe.
This initiative will address critical areas, including Primary Prevention, Diagnostics, Treatment, Interaction (comorbidities), and Care Management, with the aim of propelling scientific advancements in these five core themes within the realm of osteoarthritis.
